Certain rain

That is the rainbird calling;

I don’t know

if it is calling down the rain

or celebrating the rain.

Rapid drops

into a clear pool,

reverberating with a mellow music.

Episodes of sunlight

intervene wetly.

Leaves smell damply of earth,

briefly the tartness

of a lemon blossom.

The rain descends again,

shushing the land,

crooning over the trees

like a mother.

The rain is certain,

the rainbird knows its tune.

I don’t know

if it is calling down the rain

or celebrating the rain.

I don’t know,

I am not certain.

You love me, Tsamma

.

You cool my heart

in your small hands, Tsamma

at the end of the long, dry sand

of the day.

.

I look for you

with panting hands

until I touch your woman belly.

.

Your words sing

soft water on my tongue, Tsamma,

you feed me

with the flesh of your thoughts.

You think

me and I live

………..

Jy’t my lief Tsamma

.

Jy hou my hart koel

in jou handjies, Tsamma

aan die einde van die lang, droë sand

van die dag.

.

Ek soek jou

met plantende hande

tot ek jou vroue-maag voel.

Jou woorde sing

sagte water op my tong, Tsamma,

jy voed my

met die vlees van jou dink.

Jy dink

my en ek leef.
